How do they work?
A standard concrete septic tank is shaped like an onion with three sections inside. The term ‘septic’ refers to the bacteria inside the tank that digest the solid material. Waste material flows from your toilet, bathroom, laundry and kitchen into the tank, where liquids, fats, oils and solids are efficiently separated. The solids are digested by the bacteria, and the liquid flows through a dividing wall into a second chamber whether further settlement takes place. This then flows on to an evapo-transpiration field to evaporate. Your tank can be in- stalled by any licensed plumber, and does not require additional electrical supply. What’s more, we’ve designed our tanks to be superbly low maintenance.
Collection wells are used to hold waste material that has been treated in a septic tank, but cannot be disposed of in an evapo-transpiration field. Your concrete tank will collect and store any effluent that overflows from your septic tank, ready for safe disposal at a later time.
